tldr:
- Nominet is a member owned entity with a monopoly over the .UK domain system (the board however frequently acts in its own interests).
- Nominet has been attending possibly funding meetings with UK.gov on the topic of a free & open internet and how to defend it (the board is know to have a different opinion of free & open to that you might expect).
- Nominet is not transparent on its funding and lobbying.
- I identified images on twitter that showed Nominet attended an event at the House of Commons Terrace Dining Rooms.
- I asked the House of Commons for what information it held about the meeting.
- The House of Commons reveals the meeting was paid for by Lodgestone Communications Ltd.
- Lodgestone Communications Ltd is involved in operating events for the PICTFOR APPG.
- Nominet donates £ 6000 to PICTFOR every year for access to Government influence.
